Be on the look out for....

The chilly winds of Canadian winters can be soften by enjoying in-season produce. In the middle of January what is in-season produce. If you are buying imported produce you might want to look at Italian or California golden kiwifruit (my bet is on the ZESPRI Italian fruit - I spotted some at Pete's Frootique and found the sample to be delightful).

The best selling months for retailers is Jan/Feb/Mar for apples - local crop is still plentiful. Honeycrisp will be disappearing as stocks decline however you might want to look for recent entries into the apple world - such as sweet Pacific Rose or the Jazz - a cross between a Braeburn and a Royal Gala.
